1. Put the need to Dump Bush! on Election Day, November 2, on the
agenda of your next local union meeting. Activate your Stewards network and review the following suggested
activities in order to maximize voter education and turnout.
2. Review the leaflets in the UE Dump Bush! packet (also available
online; they're listed at left). Decide how many you will need, and how they will be copied. Make a concrete plan
that spells out exactly who will distribute these flyers to which group in your workplace on what date. Several different
leaflet distributions are possible before Election Day.
3. Order Dump Bush! buttons
for use with your membership. Dump Bush! stickers will also be available in quantity for our final push in October.
4. Visit the UE web page at www.ranknfile-ue.org (you're here now!) for regular updates on the progress of the UE Dump Bush! effort.
5. Enroll yourself and the activists in your Local in the
UE Activist Net e-mail alert and message system. Updates on the Dump Bush! effort will be sent
out periodically. |
6. Consider organizing a get-out-the-vote phone bank for your
Local union. This is more necessary than ever since many workplaces are decentralized or spread over several shifts.
Pick an evening or two in late October and get to work on the phones. Several people making calls while one researches phone
numbers will accomplish a lot. Try it! |
7. Reach out to other UE Locals in your area and combine
your efforts. Its always better when you have some help. Dont hesitate to reach out and ask retirees and laid-off members
for help! Could you distribute one of the UE flyers at an unorganized workplace nearby? Non-union workers have been clobbered
and need the Dump Bush! message more than ever. |
8. Connect with others in your community who are working to Dump
Bush! What other unions or organizations are active in your community and working to make changes on Election Day? Contact
them and plug-in to magnify your efforts. |
9. Take the Dump Bush! message to the public; organize a
plant-gate picket, or a roadside demonstration to ask the people in your community to get out and vote for change on November
2. Dont forget to contact your local news media a nice photo in your local paper or spot on the evening TV news of a
rank-and-file group working to Dump Bush! would spread the message to working people all through your region. |
