Workers of America (UE)
June, 2004
To: UE Members Everywhere
With every day that brings us closer to Election Day 2004, theres a growing recognition
among working people that Tuesday, November 2 will be a pivotal event in our nations history. Together we can remove from
office the most anti-worker administration of our lifetime.
Our August 2003
National Convention recognized the significance of the coming elections, when your delegates adopted a resolution entitled The
Crisis Facing Working People Requires Rank-and-File Political Action. Spontaneous applause greeted the reading of the first
resolve: Calls on the union at all levels to mobilize the membership and work with our allies to remove George Bush from office
in the November 2004 election.
Delegates to that convention also adopted a Policy Action plan making the removal of
George W. Bush our top political action priority, approving a voter registration campaign and other efforts to accomplish that
task. To that end, your local and district officers have already received Voter Action Packets containing sample leaflets and
voter-registration information. We urge you to get involved in this effort and work closely with your local.
Help out by registering to vote, assisting co-workers, family and friends to
register, taking part in union-sponsored Dump Bush! activities, and most important of all voting on November 2 to protect
your job, your family and your union.
We recognize that the record of the Democratic candidate has not always matched up
with UE policy. However, he gives us the best opportunity to achieve the all-important goal of removing the Bush-Cheney regime
and interrupting the corporate attacks on our jobs, quality of life and union. Your vote on November 2 will be action on behalf
of your future.
In Solidarity,
John H. Hovis General President
