New Contract Reached

PERRY, Iowa
A new two-year contract between UE Local 895 and the Perry
Community Schools effective July 1 increases base pay rates by 45 cents an
hour.
The contract also increases life insurance from $30,000 to
$40,000, cleans up language with regard to seniority, adds nieces and nephews
to bereavement leave, includes holiday hours as time worked for computation of
overtime and strengthens union leave language.
A wage and insurance reopener will occur in the second year.
Local 895 members voted overwhelmingly on May 17 to ratify the
agreement, one of the best in Iowa for school districts of this size. Local
895 consists of Perry Community Schools support staff.
The negotiating committee consisted of Nancy Sawyer, Kathy
Holmes, Bill Clausen, Dennis Leslie and Susan Whitton. They were
assisted by UE Intl. Rep. Greg A. Cross.
