Greenfield School
Custodians Settle
New Contract
GREENFIELD, Mass.
Greenfield school custodians, members of amalgamated UE Local
274, unanimously ratified a new two-year contract containing a 3 percent wage
increase in each year. The custodians were especially happy to reach a
settlement given the serious financial problems experienced by the School
Dept.
Custodians gain longevity pay for the first time. After 10
years of service each custodian will receive an annual bonus of $50.
The contract also contains a sick-leave bank and an increase
in the vacation schedule. Custodians will now be able to convert unused
personal days to sick time.
The union negotiating committee consisted of James
"Bear" Craig and Gene Warren. They were assisted by UE
Field Org. Paul Ryan.
