Contract with Western
Iowa Tech Boosts Rates
SIOUX FALLS, S.D.
Local 1145 members, employees of Western Iowa Tech Community
College, have ratified a new one-year agreement that raises minimum and
maximum pay rates by 3.5 percent. All workers who have not reached the maximum
rate will receive 3.5 percent on all rates and classifications. Workers who
are at the maximum rate will receive $40 for each year of service.
Under the terms of the new agreement, Western Iowa Tech staff
will receive time and one-half when working on a holiday, in addition to
holiday pay. If workers are required to work over the winter break and have
personal leave days, they now have the option of taking time off later or
receiving time and one-half plus the holiday pay. Workers can accumulate
unused sick days up to 110 days.
The negotiating committee consisted of Local Pres. Linda
Widerman, Vice Pres. Rich Murray, Echo Still, committee
person, and Chief Steward Patricia Ploem. They were assisted by UE
Field Org. Rocky DeMaio.
