Improves Wages,
Dental Plan, Adds
Vision Program
SIOUX FALLS, S.D.
Local 1128 members have ratified a new three-year agreement
with the SMC Corp., Schwartz division, that raises wages, improves dental
coverage and adds a vision plan.
Workers in labor grades 2 to 5 receive 40 cents an hour;
workers in labor grade 1A, 50 cents and labor grade 2A, 45 cents. In the
second year, the increases will be 35, 45 and 40 cents an hour; in the third
year, 35, 50 and 35 cents an hour.
The accident and sickness benefit is increased to $240 a week.
The vision plan includes $10 co-pay for eye examinations and $25 co-pay for
frames and lenses. The contract improves vacation eligibility language.
The Local 1128 negotiating committee consisted of Pres. Dave
Buchholz, Fin. Sec. Holly Buckman, Chief Steward Craig Latterell
and Dan Pederson, member-at-large. They were assisted by UE Field Org. Rocky
DeMaio.
