Montague DPW
Workers Agree
To One-Year Contract
MONTAGUE, Mass.
The members of amalgamated UE Local 274 employed by the Town
of Montague Department of Public Works and waste-water treatment plant have
ratified a new one-year contract. The agreement includes a general wage
increase of 3 percent and an additional 25 cents an hour for those who work on
the recycling truck.
Union members agreed to a one-year contract because the town
is undergoing a study of all wage classifications. Until the study is
completed, town officials said they could not agree to a contract of any
greater duration.
The UE bargaining committee consisted of Dennis "Chubbs"
Dobios and Bob Hynoski. Other members attended sessions, including
retired member and former chief steward Fred Lego, John Little,
Larry Couch, Wayne Allen and Dale Andrews. They were assisted by UE
Field Org. Paul Ryan.
