Local 1125 Members
Rally at ABQC
Local 1125 members rallied outside the ABQC Corp. on Dec.
14 to protest the companys anti-union behavior in negotiations and on the
shop floor.
Two days before ABQC delivered an unacceptable final offer,
management indefinitely suspended six union members three of them on the
negotiating committee for wearing stickers. The company held their jobs
hostage by refusing to allow them back to work unless they agreed not to file
a grievance or take a complaint to the National Labor Relations Board.
Local
1125 members responded by turning out in the bitter Wisconsin cold to protest
with allies including District 11 Pres. Carl Rosen, District 11 Sec.-Treas.
Bob Rudek, Milwaukee Labor Council Pres. John Goldstein and supporters from
other Milwaukee area UE locals. In the top picture, the
marchers include, from right, District Pres. Rosen (with bullhorn), Field Org.
Ramiro Castillo and Local 1196 Pres. Freddy Gallegos; in the
bottom photo are Jonette Roberts
(steward), Fin. Sec. Marlene Torres and Iris Navarro
(trustee). The fight continues.
