UE HISTORY

UE was the first union to be chartered by the new
Congress of Industrial Organizations in 1938, two
an a half years after the UE's founding Convention
in 1936. UE would also become to the first union
to win a CIO contract (with Decca Records).

Dated November 16, 1938, this is the first charter
ever granted by the CIO.
