UE-FAT Reception
The national leaders of UE and Mexico’s Authentic Labor Front (FAT)
pose with officers of the El Paso Labor Union (the Texan city’s regional AFL-CIO
council) in the union’s hall on April 24. The UE and FAT leadership held extensive
consultations in Juarez; the Texan unionists hosted a reception for them. All declared
agreement on renegotiation of NAFTA, the unrestricted right of workers to organize,
bargain and strike, solidarity among unions in the U.S. and Mexico, and the need for
governments to comply with labor and environmental laws in the border region.
