Pressure On Glastic
For First Contract

On May 12, UE Local 758 members took their fight for a first contract to the Glastic Corp. headquarters in Cleveland with a "rally for justice" attended by dozens of supporters. The Local 758 members from the Jefferson, Ohio Glastic plant were joined by UE members from Ohio and western Pennsylvania as well as members of the PACE (formerly Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers) local at the Cleveland plant.

Also taking part were Jobs with Justice and Cleveland area unions. Speakers included Denise McClain, president of PACE Local 5-622, Glastic
Cleveland; UE District Seven President Joyce Clayborne; and James Tipton, USWA staff representative, who spoke on behalf of workers at
Kobelco, a Seymour, Indiana Kobe subsidiary, who have been fighting for three years for a first contract. Glastic is also owned by Kobe, a Japan-based multinational
corporation.
